It also turns out to be the center of vegan eating in Jacksonville, and it has a smokehouse on its edge, so this is a neighborhood where a plant-based eater and a brisket eater can both win on the same night.
On Edgewood Avenue, Murray Hillbilly serves plant-based Southern comfort food, and a short walk away, The Walrus is a bar that serves only plant-based food, books local live music, and keeps pool tables and an arcade going late.
Over on Roosevelt Boulevard, where Murray Hill runs into Avondale, The Butt Hutt Smokehouse settled after eight years as a food truck on the road.
